Dell Inspiron 13 7348 Review

We had the chance to examine Dell's hybrid laptop, Inspiron 13 7348 , which was prepared for professional purposes . The laptop is referred to as a hybrid model because...

Dell Inspiron 15 7548 Review

Recently, 4K has become the rising trend not only in televisions but also in monitors and of course laptops. With the support of many manufacturers, Dell’s new model has also joined the 4K notebooks that have started to reach large masses. The 7548 model, included in the Dell Inspiron 15 7000 series, is in our test center today. Let’s see what the laptop offers us.

Aluminum design

The Dell Inspiron 15 7548 is a notebook with a 15.6 inch screen. While its aluminum-designed body gives it a stylish look, of course the laptop’s 4K resolution screen adds a separate charm to it.

The silver-colored outer coating leaves its place to the gray floor in the interior. Made of matte material, the surface faces a glossy screen. If only the screen was chosen from matte material, because the glossy screen is exposed to reflections.

When we look at the keyboard area, we see an ergonomic keyboard. There is no problem with the ergonomics of the keyboard, it can be used easily. Again, the touchpad located under it. But what we don’t understand here is why the keyboard is squeezed into such a narrow space. Because there is a wide area on the right, left and bottom. It is advantageous to have a wide palmrest area, that is, the area where you rest your wrists when using the keyboard. However, I have to say that we find the keyboard area too narrow. By the way, let’s not forget that the keyboard is backlit.

The Dell Inspiron 15 7548 model is a slim laptop. The device, which reaches approximately 20 mm at its thickest point, is one of the ideal 15.6 inch screen models with its dimensions.

When we look around the laptop, we see one USB 2.0, two USB 3.0, full-size HDMI and card reader. There is no optical drive in the device. We do not see the optical drive in many models anymore.

4K & touch screen

Now let’s slowly come to the technical details of the Dell Inspiron 15 7548. Let’s start with the screen first. The laptop owns a 15.6-inch screen with 4K, ie Ultra HD resolution. The screen with a resolution of 3840×2160 pixels uses Truelife LED-Backlit IPS panel. This gives him a wide viewing angle. The screen is satisfactory in terms of resolution, that’s okay; This is one of the most striking features of the laptop. But let’s say we don’t like the contrast of the screen anyway. On the other hand, the brightness of the screen did not satisfy us. Considering that the screen is made of glossy material, especially in outdoor use, it negatively affects the display performance. At this point, Dell’s XPS 13 we reviewed earlier Let’s not go without saying that we like the screen of the model much more.

The biggest advantage of the screen is that it has 4K resolution and supports touch feature. Touch panels in particular increase the importance of laptop. The Dell Inspiron 15 7548 is one of the models that gains value in this sense.

Processor and performance

The Dell Inspiron 15 7548 is one of the high-end laptop models. Using Intel’s Intel Core i7-5500U processor, which was released this year, the laptop runs at 2.4 GHz. Powered by two physical cores, the processor can reach up to 3.0 GHz if it is on a turbo frequency. Of course, this has a great effect on the high performance of the device.

One of the biggest jokes of this processor is that it can use up to a maximum of 16 GB of memory. Accordingly, Dell has brought a 16 GB RAM capacity to the Inspiron 15 7548 model. However, it is worth mentioning that there are 8 GB options in the Inspiron 15 7000 series.

Using the Intel HD Graphics 5500 integrated GPU, the Inspiron 15 7548 also uses the Radeon R7 M270 graphics card. AMD Radeon R7 M270, which is in the second class among the cards, is suitable for its performance class. It does its best for the Inspiron 15 7548 as well. However, if we tell you right away, we have to say that you cannot get the expected performance, especially in games, due to the 4K screen. For example, you can go down to 10 FPS in Ultra settings in Thief . Of course, when you lower the resolution and graphic details, the performance increases. Another example is Far Cry 4 , one of the popular games.Let’s give over. In this game, it is possible to get about 30 FPS at the medium graphics level. It is not difficult to predict that you will lose performance when you go to ultra level.

Storage and battery life

It is possible to see models with SSD in the Inspiron 15 7000 series. However, our Inspiron 15 7548 comes with a 1 TB mechanical disk drive. This is ideal for those who want a large storage space. But of course it is a fact that you cannot get SSD performance .

Let’s also talk about the battery performance of the Inspiron 15 7548. Dell’s claim is that this device has a battery performance of about 8 hours . Of course, we have also applied our own real use battery tests to the device. In our tests, the Inspiron 15 7548, which consumed its battery in about 4 hours and 30 minutes in the internet surf test , saw 4 hours in the video test . Let’s also say that it consumes the battery in about 2 hours and 30 minutes at the point of play . The Inspiron 15 7548, which consumed its battery in about 1 hour and 30 minutes when we brought the brightness of the device to maximum and kept the laptop under full load, turned off the Wi-Fi and showed a battery performance exceeding 9 hours at minimum brightness .

Based on these results, we can say that the 4K Lenovo Yoga Pro 3 and Dell XPS 13 , which we previously reviewed, give much better results in terms of battery performance. Although the Yoga Pro 3 uses the low-battery Intel Core M 5Y71 processor, the Dell XPS 13 uses the same processor as the Inspiron 15 7548, the Core i7-5500U. In this context, the Inspiron 15 7548 lags behind the XPS 13 with battery performance.

Summing up

The Dell Inspiron 15 7548 is a good laptop model. In addition to those looking for laptops with high-end processors and promising high performance, we recommend that those who also include 4K resolution in their criteria should examine them closely. Of course, there are also disadvantages in some aspects; We already touched upon them during our review. However, in general terms, Dell has put forward a good model with the Inspiron 15 7548.

The price of the Inspiron 15 7548 is around 3499 TL .
