We think you are familiar with Lenovo’s flexible notebook models. Meeting the expectations of those who expect flexible use from their notebooks with its Flex and Yoga laptop family, Lenovo was the guest of our test center with its 14-inch model that we will examine today. The laptop, named Flex 14D , is a model that stands out with its dual-mode usage opportunity.
Flex 14D has a design that can be used both as a laptop computer and as a stand. The model of the notebook, which is on the shelves with different processor options, is AMD-based . Let’s say that the laptop, which we examined with its model with an A4 processor, can be found on both AMD and Intel sides with different processor options. Let’s take a closer look at the laptop, which we can say that it can also be found in different color options.
Dual use mode
Lenovo Flex 14D makes the biggest difference with its design. The laptop, which has two different usage styles, is designed in a hybrid structure. Flex 14D beautifully separates the work and entertainment points, as you can use it as a normal laptop and put it in stand mode. Thus, except when you need to work on a computer, you can switch the laptop to stand mode while watching movies / videos, viewing touch applications or video chats.
Having a 14-inch screen, the laptop offers HD resolution images. The screen with a resolution of 1366×768 pixels is touch. The biggest advantage of the screen is that it is touchscreen, so it is very easy to use. Speaking of the screen, we cannot say that we liked the image quality of Flex 14D. When you look at the screen from the slightest different angles, you experience a loss of image. You have to look straight ahead to get a clear view.
The keyboard area just below the screen is very comfortable to use. The keyboard, which is very ergonomic in design, allows comfortable writing. In addition to the size and key spacing of the keys, the palm rest area also supports typing comfort. Let’s also say that the touchpad under the keyboard shows multi-touch support.
AMD platform
Flex 14D is offered for sale with different processors. Among them are models with Intel as well as models on the AMD platform. Flex 14D, which has an AMD A4-5000 processor with the model we reviewed, operates at a frequency of 1.5 GHz . It offers sufficient processing power with 4-core processor performance. The laptop, which has a sufficient capacity for office applications and general use, is positioned against Intel’s i3 processors with its AMD A4 processor.
The laptop has DDR3 RAM memory of 4 GB capacity, while the graphics house has AMD Radeon HD 8330 . The Radeon HD 8330, which is the equivalent of Intel’s built-in graphics unit HD Graphics 4000 in graphics performance, is pleasing with its ideal structure for you to get moderate performance from games when it is considered for the category of laptop. In FIFA 14 , you can see an average of 45 FPS at high settings . It is possible to get around 35 FPS in Counter Strike and 20 FPS in Grid 2 . Of course, you can gain more by lowering the level of detail.
Some models of the Flex 14D’s counterparts in the category also show SSD support. However, Flex 14D has no SSD. The laptop comes with a 500 GB hard drive. If SSD is important to you, it would be wise to turn to alternatives. Finally, let’s say that Flex 14D is very satisfying with its battery life. The laptop, which claims to show a battery life of up to 9 hours , we saw a maximum of 7 hours as a result of our tests. This was the time we took as a result of standard usage and online transactions. Of course, this period will be shortened in situations that require higher performance. However, with this time, the laptop is at a satisfactory level.
Flex 14D provides a flexible use by offering two different usage types. With its foldable structure, the laptop, which takes care of comfort especially when you watch movies and videos or use only the touch screen, is at a sufficient level for its category with its processing performance. In our opinion, the biggest handicap of the device that we find stylish with its design is the problem in the viewing angle of the screen. Apart from that, Flex 14D, which is a very useful device, can be examined closely by those who are looking for this type of hybrid notebook. We think it will be appreciated for its long battery life, stable performance, comfortable and flexible structure.
The price of Flex 14D is around 1200 lira. The laptop, which does not make a difference between its counterparts at this price category, can thus be preferred.
It may be a good choice for those considering purchasing a laptop for office applications and normal use. We think it will be appreciated for its long battery life, stable performance, comfortable and flexible structure.
